“How was your shoot with Spud?” I asked Kenny, who had just walked into the conference room.

“Put it this way, Marlin, I’m pretty sure there’s going to be a new favorite boat and crew on Tuna Hunters, and for the first time it’s going to be a southern one: the guys on My Mahi. Well, at least two of the three sound like they’re from the south. Baloney sounds more like he’s from Newark.”

I nodded my head, “You should have heard him ten years ago over the radio. And they say that southerners can be tough to understand at times. Ha!”

Tex was also in the room and joined Kenny in laughing at my comment. He said, “Speaking of tough to understand, I’m going to go ahead and put some of our camera crewmen on the other three boats for the next few weeks. They’ll need time to adjust to each other. If you’ve never had someone following you around all day with a camera it can take some getting used to until you’re finally comfortable with it. We’ll be onboard My Mahi from her first trip out of the boatyard through the last day of tuna season. Those guys are pure gold as far as video content goes.”

I said, “You haven’t seen anything yet, Tex. When Bill is out fishing he’s hilarious. You never know what he’s going to say next. I can’t even imagine what he’s going to be like on a giant bluefin.”

“I want to be on his boat, Carrington,” Kenny said. “I’ve developed a rapport with him over in the boatyard, and now I’ve gotten to know Spud as well. B3 is out fishing on their other boat most of the time, but he’s been easy to get along with when he’s in at the dock. Though he’s the one I’m going to have to coax to get him to talk more on camera.”

“Already figured on that being your boat this season, though Paulson is going to scream about us putting someone new with him,” Carrington told him.

Troy Paulson was the owner/captain of MyTunaHunter.com, the largest and newest boat in the northern fleet. He and his crew always looked more like they had just stepped off a yacht rather than a fishing boat. All wore matching collared shirts with the boat name monogrammed on the left breast which was part of their branding and marketing strategy. However, Troy was best known for being a hotheaded prima-donna. I met him up in Galax, and other than Bonner, he was my least favorite member of the old cast.

“Hi. Am I interrupting?” A nice looking brown-haired woman in her late thirties walked into the room. I recognized her as Tracy Brill, Tuna Hunter Productions’ finance director. I had also met her up in Galax, and she was now the first of our relocated office staff to arrive.

“Tracy, hi! Not at all. You remember Marlin Denton from up north,” Carrington asked.

“Of course. Hello again, Mr. Denton.”

I stood up and shook her hand.
